Hi Ramesh,
I was searching Google reagarding the Davao City Camera Club and came upon the picture you posted about the City Hall. You know what? I had one exactly like this but lost it sometime in the late 70′S. I was working then at the Brothers Bazaar as one of the store managers located on Bolton Street owned by my Indian friend.I displayed the said photo at the store show case.
A couple of years later my friend closed the shop and and I forgot to retrieve my city hall picture. A few weeks ago, I read an article that the city government is putting up a museum and is inviting contributors who can donate articles, pictures, etc. That was then I remembered my lost picture. Sayang, but it is not completely sayang because the Tourism office has a copy.
I have in my possession an old picture of San Pedro Street taken
on a July 4th Parade, where the Davao High School Cadets participated in 1931. The background shows some establishments like a Bazaar, a Botica, eateries and the dental clinic of Palma Gil and Villarica. Those are prominent names in Davao. This upcoming
December I will be going to Davao for a vacation and will be
visiting the Museum and the Tourism office to give them a
copy.
Lastly, I would like to express that the original picture in your
photo blog (Davao Municipal Hall) might be the long lost picture
I have been looking for. The caption is my own hand writing.
Hi Mr. Bula, thank you very much for dropping by. I’m really glad that I posted that photograph here
Anyways, please do give me your email address (thru the contact us page in this blog) so I can send you a copy of the unedited photo.
Thanks again sir and see you around
Hi rameshdataya,
I am Orly Escarrilla, the Acting Administrative Officer of Museo Dabawenyo, the newly opened museum of the City Government of Davao. The photo posted herein captures the old City Hall in its entirity. We currently have a reproduced photo of the old City Hall taken/owned by Noel Laud and published in the Davao History Book of Mr. Ernie Corcino where we had it scanned. Moreover, the said photo is not as elaborate as the one you have.
If I may ask, do you have the e-mail address or any contact no. of Mr. Bula because we would want to get in touch with him in connection with his intention to donate old Davao photos to the museum.
Should you also want to donate old Davao photos, we will be more than willing to accept it.
You may e-mail us at museodabawenyo@yahoo.com or we may be reached at tel. no. (082) 222-6011.
Thank you.
